According to Red Bull's profile of Jonathan, his early rise in competitive gaming also came with accusations from some members of the gaming community that questioned his legitimacy as a player. Jonathan responded by continuing to compete and stream publicly, eventually establishing himself as a recognised professional player.
When Did Jonathan Gaming Start His Esports Career?
Jonathan's professional competitive career is generally recorded as beginning in 2019. He initially played under Team SkuLL before joining Entity Gaming.
His breakthrough came during the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) era, when mobile esports was rapidly becoming a major competitive scene in India.

In 2020, the roster became TSM Entity. Jonathan continued his rise with the team and helped it win the PUBG Mobile India Series 2020.
He also earned individual recognition during the PUBG Mobile Pro League South Asia Season 1 and PUBG Mobile World League East in 2020.

Why Is Jonathan Gaming Known as "16"?
The number 16 has a special place in Jonathan Gaming's esports identity because of one of the most memorable performances of his early competitive career.

Jonathan's 16-kill performance came during the PUBG Mobile era, before BGMI became the Indian version of the game. The match was played on Erangel, and Jonathan's performance became widely associated with his name.
The number eventually became more than a statistic. It turned into part of Jonathan's personal esports identity. Team Apex Gaming's official Jonathan Edition also traces the significance of the number 16 back to that PMIS 2020 semifinal performance.
So when fans associate Jonathan Gaming with "16", the reference comes from his famous 16-kill PMIS 2020 performance rather than simply being a jersey number.

His reputation has been built around an aggressive approach to fights. Red Bull's player profile describes him as an aggressive player, while Jonathan's own official YouTube profile describes his competitive style in terms of precision, consistency and high-impact gameplay.
That combination of aggression and mechanical skill has been a defining feature of his public competitive identity.
Jonathan Gaming's Playing Style
Jonathan's gameplay is generally associated with fast decision-making, close-range fights, aggressive pushes and the ability to take high-risk engagements.
He has also been noted for using a two-thumb control style, a detail highlighted in Red Bull's profile. Rather than relying on a more complex multi-finger control layout, Jonathan developed his own approach around the control method that suited his gameplay.
His style has made him particularly recognisable during intense team fights, where quick reactions and confidence in one-on-one engagements can change the outcome of a match.
Jonathan Gaming and the Number 16
The number 16 has become one of the strongest visual identifiers associated with Jonathan Gaming.
Team Apex Gaming has incorporated the number into its Jonathan-themed identity, including the official Jonathan Edition jersey. The organisation's own description presents the "16" as a symbol connected to Jonathan's story and the next stage of his career.
This branding has helped turn a simple number into a recognisable part of his esports identity.

Jonathan Gaming's Career Earnings
Public esports databases track Jonathan's tournament prize money across his competitive career. Liquipedia currently lists his approximate total tournament winnings at around US$122,757.
That figure should be treated as an esports prize-money estimate rather than Jonathan's total personal income. It does not represent earnings from YouTube, sponsorships, streaming, brand partnerships, merchandise or other commercial activities.
Esports prize-money databases can also change as tournament records are updated, so the figure should not be interpreted as a complete measure of his wealth or income.
Jonathan Gaming's Current Team in 2026
As of September 2026, Jonathan is listed as a player for Team Apex Gaming.
Liquipedia records his GodLike Esports tenure as running from August 2021 until April 5, 2026, followed by Team Apex Gaming from April 29, 2026 onward.
The move marked a significant change because Jonathan was no longer simply joining another established organisation. Team Apex Gaming was created around his own identity and represents a new organisational chapter in his career.
Team Apex Gaming and Jonathan's New Chapter
Team Apex Gaming was launched in April 2026 with Jonathan as its founder. The organisation subsequently built a roster around the new project.
The team's first major test came during the 2026 BGMI competitive season. Team Apex Gaming finished fifth in the BGMI Pro Series 2026, giving the newly established organisation a top-five finish at a major domestic tournament.
Jonathan's move into team ownership and organisation-building adds another dimension to his esports career. He is now associated not only with playing at the highest level but also with building a competitive brand around his own identity.
